Here I break it down:
- First off ,start accumulating coupons. The sunday paper is filled with coupons (only 3% of Americans redeem these!) Also printable coupons on sites such as Coupons.com, Smartsource.com, RedPlum.com etc. (I reccomend buying a binder with baseball card inserts to organize your coupons. You may think you wont need it, but trust me you will!) You can also check websites of brands you like and also facebook pages. Some brands have coupons there just waiting to be printed, or you can sign up and they will mail coupons to you.
- Next, learn how to match coupons with sale prices. We don't have stores that double coupons, so this is the most important part of couponing. Check your sunday ads and look for good sales, then check what coupons you have and match them with the sale items. The better you get at this, the less you will pay! You can get a lot of things for FREE, or dirt cheap by matching a coupon with a sale..
- Another way to save even MORE is by matching a manufacturer's coupon with a store coupon. A store coupon is a coupon that is marked for a specific store like Target, CVS, etc and a Manufacturers coupon is from the brand itself and it states "Manufacturers Coupon" on it. Most places will NOT let you add more than one manufacturers coupon on one item BUT you can use a manufacturer coupon AND a store coupon on one item.
EXAMPLE:
I'm going to purchase toothpaste from Target that retails for $4.99
I have a Manufacturers Coupon off of toothpaste for $2.00
I also have a Target coupon off toothpaste that is worth $1.00
That is $3.00 in coupons so my toothpaste comes out to $1.99.
ALSO: If you have a few of the same type of coupon, lets say you have 3 of the same Manufacturers coupon off of toothpaste & 3 of the same Target coupon, that means you can do the deal above(the example) 3 times and YES you can do it all in one transaction!
- You will notice that it gets easier, the more you collect coupons, so start collecting those coupons now!
